MER D'EMERAUDE

Mer d'emeraude
The Emerald Sea is a natural lagoon located north of Diego-Suarez, protected by a coral reef. This
site, accessible by traditional canoe or motorboat, gets its name from its stunningly bright green
water that shines under the sun

. Historically, this inner sea was used as a fishing zone by the
Antankarana people, and some of its islets are still considered sacred. Nature here is vibrant: live corals, tropical fish, starfish, and sea turtles abound. The water is shallow, calm, and warm, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Small white-sand islands are perfect for picnics and beach
walks.
Available activities include free diving, traditional fishing, canoeing, and relaxing on deserted
beaches. It’s one of Madagascar’s most beautiful spots for experiencing a dream day in the ocean.
